Amigurumi Donkey Alex Free Pattern

Materials:
• 2.5 mm and 4 mm needle
• Wool sewing needle
• Knitting thread for 2.5 mm needle in 2 colors
• Knitting thread for 4 mm needle in 1 color
• 2 x 10.5mm safety eyes (can also embroider eyes)
• Filling
I used the following thread:
o Phildar coton 3, Minerai (color 48): about 120 gr
o Phildar coton 3, Silver (color 74): about 25 gr
o By Claire nº 2, Black (color 325): about 50 gr (I used a whole ball)
I used a 2.5mm needle. The final size is about 28 cm high. If you want to make your burrito bigger or smaller, use a thicker or finer thread and needle. For the mane and tail, I used a thicker thread and a 4mm needle.
Make sure to knit tight, so the stitches don’t come apart and the filling can be seen between the holes. The pattern is woven in a spiral, unless otherwise indicated.
Take your time to find the right spot before sewing the pieces together as it will be done permanently. In this way you will achieve the best result and a pleasant appearance.

sl-st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (knit 2 sc in 1 sts)
dec = decrease (close 2 sc together)

(…) = The number of stitches at the end of each round indicates the number

Magic Ring: Wrap the thread 3 times around one finger of the left hand. Of
left to right, leaving the ends of the thread to the right. Insert the needle between the 3
loops and your finger and pull the loop below the left below the other two.
Knit a ch. Take the two loops off your finger. You now have a 2-loop ring where
you must weave your stitches around it. Hold the ring between your fingers and knit the number of
dots indicating the pattern. After that, pull the ring firmly.

Pass the thread through the last 6 sts and close the opening. Hide the thread. Sew the head to the
body with the thread that we leave in the body.

Fold in half and knit joining both sides (12)
Cut the thread, leaving a long strand to sew the ear to the head. Fold the ear to the
half and sew to the head. Sew the ears leaving 13 sts apart on round 31 of head.
Horsehair:
With black and 4 mm needle:
Join the thread with 1 sl-st to the first st in front of the ears. Knit: ch 16 and sl-st in the next sc.
This will form a 16 ch loop. Continue [16 ch, 1 sl-st] until you reach the other ear. Knit 2
sl-st across the ear to skip 2 rounds. Then knit in is row same as row
above, but in the opposite direction (between the two rows there should be a row without knitting).
Continue in the same way until you reach the neck.
We knit the first st in the st following the one at the front of the ear.
Ch 16 and join with 1 sl-st to the next sc.

Stuff the lower leg.

Fill the upper part of the leg slightly. Fold the top part in half and knit by joining both sides together (10). Cut the thread, leaving a long strand to sew the legs to the body. Sew the legs to the body.
Tail:
With black and 4 mm needle:
Knit a strip of 40 ch. Join the first ch with a sl-st forming a circle. Continue with:
[40 ch, sl-st in the first ch of the previous loop (where you knit the sl-st earlier)] 6x. It should have 7 loops of 40 ch.
Cut the thread, leaving a long strand to sew the tail to the body. Sew the tail at the back of row 17 from body.
