Amigurumi Girl Elf Doll Free Pattern

Girl Elf Doll

Materials:

● Worsted weight yarn

○ Lily Sugar ‘n’ Cream brand

○ colors red, white, soft ecru, jute and dark pine were used in pattern

● E hook

● pair of plastic safety eyes (6mm)

● 3 gold colored jingle bells 1 cm

● polyfill stuffing

● yarn needle

● stitch marker

● blush (opt.)

Abbreviations:

R = row/round

st/sts = stitch/stitches

sl st = slip stitch

ch = chain

sc= single crochet

tr = treble

inc = increase (2 sc in next st)

sc dec – single crochet decrease invisible decrease

Pattern notes:

● Pieces are crocheted separately and then sewn together.

● Pattern is worked through both loops unless otherwise indicated.

● Stitch (st) and single crochet (sc) are used interchangeable and mean the same thing.

● Gauge is not important as long as tension is kept throughout the pattern.

● Finished doll size: approximately 13 inches. Varies with crocheting tension and hook size.

● When switching colors, always switch the color in the previous stitch as such: pull up the first loop for a single crochet in the old color, then, pull the new color through the last two loops to complete the single crochet. Continue in the new color

Doll Head

Work in a round without turning. With skin color, begin with a ‘Magic Ring’.

R1: sc 6 sts into magic ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. = 6 sts

R2: (Note: The ch 1 at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch in this pattern.

Always begin round in same stitch as joining chain. At the end of the round, skip the st with the chain and sl st to the first st.)

ch 1, 2 sc in same st and in each st around, join with a sl st to first st (not the ch1). = 12 sts

R3: ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. Join

with a sl st to first st. = 18sts

R4: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, *1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 24 sts

R5: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next st, *1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 30 sts

R6: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next st, * 1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next

st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 36 sts

R7: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next st, * 1 sc in each of next 5 sc, 2 sc in next

st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 42 sts

R8: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next st, * 1 sc in each of next 6 sc, 2 sc in next

st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 48 sts

R9: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next st, * 1 sc in each of next 7 sc, 2 sc in next

st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 54 sts

R10: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next st, * 1 sc in each of next 8 sc, 2 sc in next

st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 60 sts

R11-20: ch 1, sc in same st and in each st around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 60 stsR21: ch 1,

sc in same st, *dec next two sts together, sc in next 8 sts, repeat from * around. Join with sl st

to first st. = 54 sts

R22: ch 1, sc in same st, *dec next two

sts together, sc in next 7 sts, repeat from

* around. Join with sl st to first st. = 48

sts

R23: ch 1, sc in same st, *dec next two

sts together, sc in next 6 sts, repeat from

* around. Join with sl st to first st. = 42

sts

R24: ch 1, sc in same st, *dec next two

sts together, sc in next 5 sts, repeat from

* around. Join with sl st to first st. = 36

sts

Insert Eyes: At this point, insert the eyes

between rows 1 and 2 above the nose,

with 4 sts between the eyes. Begin

stuffing the head. 

R25: ch1, sc in same st, *dec next two sts together, sc in next 4 sts, repeat from * around. Join

with sl st to first st. = 30 sts

R26: ch1, sc in same st, *dec next two sts together, sc in next 3 sts, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to first st. = 24 sts

Stuffing: Continue to stuff the head as the opening gets smaller. The head should be firm but not stretching the yarn. Tip: To do an even stuffing job, push stuffing into the middle of the head, then distribute stuffing evenly to the edges with finger tips.

R27: ch1, sc in same st, *dec next two sts together, sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to first st. = 18 sts

R28: ch1, sc in same st, *dec next two sts together, sc in next st, repeat from * around. Join with sl st to first st. = 12 sts

R29: ch 1, sc in same st, dec next two sts together. Continue doing this around. Sl st to first sc. = 6 sts

Fasten off. Finish stuffing head. Sew hole shut and weave in remaining yarn. (It need not look super neat as long as it is not lumpy. It will be covered with a hat later.)

Elf Shoe (make two)

ch 10 (leave a 5” tail)

R1: sc in 2nd st from hook and remaining 8 sts. = 9 sts

R2-6: ch1, turn, sc across. = 9 sts

R7: turn, sk 1st st and sc in following 7 sts (do not crochet the

last st). = 7 sts

R8: turn, sk 1st st and sc in following 5 sts. = 5 sts

R9: turn, sk 1st st and sc in following 3 sts. = 3 sts

R10: turn, sk 1st st and sc in remaining 2 sts. = 2 sts

R11-16: ch 1, turn, sc across. = 2 sts

Fasten off with an 8” tail. String the bell onto the tail. (See photo at right.) the shoe.

Fold shoe in half lenghthwise and close the front of the shoe

with a whip st. It will curl up naturally. (See photo at left.)

Close the heel with a whip st from the initial 5” tail of yarn.

Stuff shoe.

R17: With white yarn, starting at the heal of the shoe, pick up

10-12 sts around the opening of

R18-19: Sc around while decreasing at the front until 8 sts remain. Switch to red yarn. (See photo at right.) 

R20-37: Continue working in a spiral, switching red and white yarn every two rows. = 8 sts

Fasten off and attach to doll’s body.

Body/Dress

Work in a round without turning. Starting at the shoulder base.

With skin color, begin with a ‘Magic Ring’.

R1: sc 6 sts into magic ring. Join with a sl st to the first sc. = 6 sts

Always begin round in same stitch as joining chain. At the end of the round, skip the st with the chain and sl st to the first st.)

with a sl st to first st. = 18sts

R4: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, *1 sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next st,

repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 24 sts

R5: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next st, *1 sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next

st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 30 sts

R6: ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next st, *1 sc in each of next 4 sc, 2 sc in next

st, repeat from * around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 36 sts

Switch to dark pine color.

R7: ch 1, sc around. Join with a sl st to first st. = 36 sts

Switch to red color.

R8: ch1, sc around. Do not end with a sl st but

continue to work in a spiral and sc directly into the

1st sc of that round. = 36 sts (use a marker to

keep track of R’s)

R9-15: sc into first sc of last R and in each st

around. = 36 sts

Switch to white color.

R16: sc around. = 36 sts

Switch to red color.

R17: Work in back loops. sc around. = 36 sts

R18: Work in both loops. sc around.

R19: (sc in next 5 sts, dec next 2 sts)x 5, sc in last st. = 31 sts.

R20: sc in next 5 sts, dec next 2 sts together, (sc in next 4 sts, dec next 2 sts together)x 4, sl st in last st. = 26 sts

Fasten off with a 12” tail. Stuff body and sew shut with a whip st.

Attach legs to bottom of body with a whip stitch. Weave in loose ends. 

R21: With red yarn, work in front loops of R 17. sl st into 1st st, ch 1, sc into same st, sc into next 2 sts, (2sc in following sc, sc in next 3 sc) around, end with 2sc in last st. Do not end with a sl st but continue to work in a spiral and begin the next R with a sc directly into the 1st st. (use a marker to keep track of R’s) = 45 sts

R22: (sc into next 4 sts, 2 sc into next sc) around. = 54 sts

R23: (sc into next 5 sts, 2 sc into next sc) around. = 63 sts

R24: (sc into next 6 sts, 2 sc into next sc) around. = 72 sts

R25: (sc into next 7 sts, 2 sc into next sc) around. = 81 sts

R26-27: sc around.

White Dress Edging

Switch to white yarn.

(sk 1 sc, sl st in next sc, sk 1 sc, 4 sc in next sc) repeat around. Fasten off.

Attach the head to the body between the 4th and 5th row.

Hand and Arms (make two)

(Note: Work each round in a spiral without turning and do not begin with a ch 1. Use a marker to

keep your place.)

With skin color, begin with a ‘Magic Ring’.

R1: sc 5 sts into magic ring. = 5 sts

R2: sc in first st, place marker on that st, sc again in that same st, 2 sc in next 4 sts = 10 sts.

R3: sc around =10 sts

R4: tr in first st, (make sure that the tr st bends out to create the thumb, place marker on that st) sc in next 4 sts, skip the next st and sc in the following one, sc in next 4 sts = 9 sts

R5: skip first sc and sc in remaining sts around. = 8 sts

R6-21: continue to sc in spiral rounds =8 sts

Finish off with a 15” tail. With yarn needle, thread the tail and pass through every other st of the last row. Pull tightly to gather the sts together.

Wind yarn of hair color choice around a firm surface about 8” long 59 times. Cut along one side.

Insert the hook into the back loops of the last row of the hat, fold one strand of cut hair in half apull it through a loop. Next, hook both strands of hair yarn and pull the rest through.

This will make two strands of hair.

Continue around head.

Attach both arms to body: Position both arms against shoulders, Thread the 15” arm tail and sew through the body to the other shoulder, through the other arm, then back through the body to the first arm. Do this a couple more times until the arms are snug and secure to the body.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Hat

Work in a spiral without turning. Use a marker to keep track of the R’s. With red color, begin with

a ‘Magic Ring’. Leave a 7” tail.

R1: sc 5 sts into magic ring.

R2: 2sc into first st of previous R and remaining sts. = 10 sts

R3-4: sc into first st of previous R and ramaining sts. = 10 sts

R5-20: sc around, inc 1 sts at any point in each R being sure to stagger them. = 27 sts

R21: 2sc into each sc around. = 54 sts

R22: 2sc into first 5 sc, sc in remaining sts. = 59 sts

R23-33: sc around. End with sl st and fasten off.

Hair

Wind yarn of hair color choice around a firm surface about 8” long 59 times. Cut along one side.

Insert the hook into the back loops of the last row of the hat, fold one strand of cut hair in half and pull it through a loop. Next, hook both strands of hair yarn and pull the rest through.

This will make two strands of hair.

Continue around head

Green Head Trim Around Hat

R1: With dark pine color, sl st into any outside st of last R of

hat as seen in the picture. ch1, sc into same st, sc around.

Join with sl st to first sc.

R2: *sk 1st sc, (2 dc, ch1, 1tr, ch1, 2dc) in next st; sk next st,

sl st into next st 7 sts, repeat from * around. Fasten off with a

25” tail for attaching to hat. 

Attaching Hat to Head

With skin color yarn about 30” long and doubled (for extra strength), start on forehead, 5 R’s above the eyes.

Pass through the hat st and hair st together as seen in photo. Continue around head.

String bell onto the end of the hat. Fold over peak of hat and sew in place at any point of the hat. 

Ears (make two)

With skin color, ch 10, sl st into second ch from hook, sl st into next ch, sc into remaining 7 ch’s. ch 1, Continue on to the opposite side of the chain, sc in next 7 ch’s, sl st into last two ch’s. Fasten off with a 10” tail for sewing ear in place.

Sew in place at R’s 10 and 11 of head where the hat is attached to the face.

Hair Ribbons

Make two hair ribbons by crocheting two chains in green 12” long.

Braid hair and tie with hair ribbons.

Weave in all remaining loose ends.
